The CGIAR Collaborative Platform for Gender Research is organizing its very first scientific conference and capacity development workshop from 4-8 December 2017 on the premises of KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam where the Platform is physically based.
The conference brings together gender scientists from across all CGIAR research programs. The aim is to share research findings, exchange knowledge, and to identify and advance system-wide gender research priorities.
In this video, Gender Platform coordinator Rhiannon Pyburn (KIT) explains the mandate of the Platform and what is at stake with this first annual scientific conference and capacity development workshop.
The upcoming week features three distinct yet inter-related events for the Platform:
- A pre-meeting of Gender Research Coordinators from the 12 CGIAR Research Programs and gender representatives from each of the 15 CGIAR research Centers (4 December),
- The First Annual Scientific Conference with 45 gender research presentations as well as plenary sessions to reflect on the context for gender research in agriculture and natural resource domains, discuss the status quo and how CGIAR contributes to this space as well as work towards a collective for CGIAR gender research (5-6 December)
- A capacity development workshop with sessions that address a variety of themes including resource mobilization for gender research, communicating gender research to scientific and non-expert audiences and tools to support integrating gender into biophysical research. Different communities of practice from across the CGIAR gender scientific community will also share tools, ideas and aspirations (7-8 December).
