CCAFS research informs gender and agriculture submissions of the Africa Group of Negotiators to the UNFCCC

Abstract

In 2017, CCAFS' Gender and Social Inclusion unit facilitated and contributed to the text for the African Group of Negotiators’ (AGN) submission to the UnitedNations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Gender Action Plan (GAP) and, in 2019, CCAFS’ support was instrumental in finalizing theGAP at COP25.

The GAP sets out plans for gender-responsive climate action. It is an essential component of ensuring inclusive and meaningful participation for all in climate action. CCAFS' support included the co-production of a conceptual framework, a brief for negotiators, and ongoing collaboration and capacity development of policy makers with the facilitator of the negotiations.
