Dr. Alice Murage is currently the Deputy Director for Crops at Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO)
Dr. Murage holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Egerton University, jointly with Justus Liebig Universität, Germany, an MSc in Agricultural Economics, and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi. Before her appointment as DDG, Crops, she served as Director of the Socio-Economics and Policy Development Department, coordinating several high-impact donor-funded projects. She has completed executive leadership training through the Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP), the John Dillon Fellowship (ACIAR, Australia), and senior management courses (SMC), and has served as a mentor in the AWARD-ICWAE Mentoring Program. Dr. Murage has a strong foundation in research methods, impact evaluation, and economic modeling. She is an accomplished scientific communicator, having (co)authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, policy briefs, technical reports, and global conference proceedings. She is known for her collaborative leadership, cross-disciplinary approach, and commitment to inclusive agricultural development, and brings energy, strategic foresight, and a results-driven mindset to every initiative. She is a dynamic leader with the ability to inspire teams, manage complexity, and drive innovation in agricultural research and development.
