Bio

Monicah Yator is an Indigenous Woman from Baringo Kenya, Tugen Pastoralist Community. She is a human rights defender, activist and feminist. She is well experienced in grassroots mobilization, movement building, and women empowerment and capacity building.

Monicah holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Social Science and a Diploma in Community Development and Social Work. She is a Trainer of Trainer on Agroecology and Permaculture innovations and an advocate for agroecological transitioning for climate change actions and resilience.

Monicah is a member Agroecology Coalition, member Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa, member - Pastoralists Alliance for Resilience and Adaptation Across Nations and a member Coalition of Indigenous Women Organization.

Monicah was awarded 20 for 20 Solidarity Awards, an initiative of Soar and Equality Now and Agroecology award for women empowerment category 2023 and awarded by AFSA for exemplary work in transforming agroecology transitioning women in category in 2021.
