Addressing Ethical Considerations In Undertaking Malaria Field Studies in Developing Countries

Abstract

Ethical issues which should be considered as part of field studies of malaria in developing countries are discussed, with recommendations on how they should be addressed, and descriptions (including lessons learned) of the examples of a community-based clinical trial of rectal artesunate in Bangladesh, Tanzania, and Ghana, and (briefly) a study of ASAQ (artesunate + amodiaquine fixed-dose combination) in Brazil
