Participatory Watershed Management for the Ping River Basin Project. Final Project Report
Abstract
Water pollution in thailand continues to threathen the health and lifelihood of communities with the poor being the most vulnarable.Declining quality and scarcity have give rice to conflicts at the local level,and often poor communities are denied to accessto use of resources.The purpose of this technical assistanceis to build a participatory approach to water intergrated watershred management in ping river and Nothern Thailand .The development objective of this TA is to improve environmental quality in the Ping River Basin. Which will contribute to achieving enhanced livelihood and health outcomes for the communities.This will be achieved by :(a) developng a participatory micro-watershed management model that provides access to all stakeholders (communities ,loca government agencies and private sector enterprices) in the decision making process , and demonstrating its implementation ;(b) enhancing capacity of stakeholders, especially local government and community groups, to participate in the planning ,implementation and monitering of interventions ; (c) strengthening regulatory and incentive mechanism to modify behaviour of watershed usewrs; and (d) developing a results framework to monitor environment ,health and livelihood outcomes
