Webinar | National Interethnic Network for the Defense of the Environment: Challenges and Opportunities

From the CGIAR initiative, National Policies and Strategies (NPS), and the Gender Platform, a collaboration was promoted between the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT, Fundación Natura, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the National Network of Interethnic Women to conduct a social network analysis workshop that mapped the relationships these organizations have in the territories.

The webinar will feature the following panelists: Fanny Howland, project leader, who will provide context and an introduction to the project;  Fanny Portillo, a native of Ricaurte, Narino, manages the Los Tirapuentes Water Nature Reserve and will share her experience in “Defending the environment from her territory”María Paula Velásquez, is the project leader of Interethnic Network of Women in Defense of the Environment, on behalf of Natura Foundation, will present “How to accompany women environmental leaders: Opportunities and challenges for non-governmental organizations”Nancy Moreno is Director of Rural Women’s Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will share her reflections on ‘How to accompany women environmental leaders: opportunities and challenges for the government’ and Carlos Eduardo González, is Senior Research Associate of the Bioversity Alliance and CIAT, will speak on ‘How to accompany women environmental leaders: Preliminary results of the analysis of social networks’.

This webinar will provide a platform to reflect on the progress made, the challenges encountered, and the opportunities that arise from supporting interethnic women in environmental defense, while promoting gender equality and fostering meaningful change in their communities.
