Bio

Alexandra is a lead on women's entrepreneurship at iDE, promoting women-led postharvest and value-addition businesses in rural markets. Prior to joining iDE, she was the CEO of Bountifield International for 10 years, where she developed projects on small-scale agro-processing and value addition of staple crops in Africa, primarily in Malawi, Senegal and Kenya.

Alexandra is passionate about women’s rights and gender equity in the food system. She has published numerous articles and has traveled and worked in over 30 countries around the world. She directed the trade and global governance program at the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and led the Network of Women Ministers and Leaders in Agriculture and Natural
Resource Management.

Alexandra received her master’s degree with a specialization in gender and development from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey and her BA from Washington University. She speaks French and has a working knowledge of Spanish. She loves to connect people who are working to make a positive difference. In her spare time, she enjoys preparing diverse recipes and tasty food to share with family and friends.
