Andrea Cornwall is Professor of Global Development and Anthropology at SOAS, University of London, where she is Pro-Director (Research & Enterprise). She was formerly Director of the Pathways of Women’s Empowerment Consortium, a research programme with hubs in the Middle East, Latin America, South Asia and West Africa and a Global Hub focusing on global policies on women’s empowerment and gender equality. She has published widely on gender and development, including ‘Feminisms and Development: Contradictions, Contestations and Challenges’ (co-edited with Ann Whitehead and Elizabeth Harrison, Zed Books, 2013) and Masculinities under Neoliberalism (co-edited with Frank Karioris and Nancy Lindisfarne, Zed Books, 2017).
