Bio

Diana Lopez-Avila is the Senior Scientist-Gender and Impact Assessment of the CGIAR GENDER Platform. In this role, she supports the Platform by ensuring the research across all CGIAR centers has an impact on gender equality.

Diana is a development economist with 10 years of experience working on applied microeconomics with a solid quantitative background and extensive experience conducting rigorous analyses to inform evidence-based policy and programming. Diana has worked in Latin America, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, with fieldwork experience in Colombia, India, Haiti, and Mauritania. She has experience working with a variety of stakeholders, such as implementing agencies, donor agencies, policymakers and other researchers. She has ample experience managing and conducting impact evaluations of social programs and is highly interested in contributing to the design of gender-sensitive and gender-inclusive programs.

Diana holds a PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics. Before joining the Platform, Diana worked as an Economist at the Africa Gender Innovation Lab of the World Bank. Diana has also worked at the National Planning Department in Colombia's Evaluation Unit and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation. Additionally, her experience extends to academia, where she previously held positions as a lecturer and assistant professor, specializing in microeconomics and applied economics.
