Eileen Mairena Cunningham

Bio

An Indigenous Miskito researcher from the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, Cunningham has worked in participatory research and local development with Indigenous peoples and women, focusing on issues of Indigenous territorial governance and participatory natural resources management in Latin America.
 
She is currently vice-president of the Indigenous Women’s organization Wangki Tangni, and liaison in Latin America and the Caribbean for the Sustainable Development Goals as part of the Indigenous Peoples Major Group.
 
Cunningham is also part of the global advocacy team on climate finance and Indigenous peoples within the Network of Indigenous Organizations Elatia, and is she the Active Observer from Civil Society Organizations from developing countries in the Green Climate Fund.
