Bio

Philip Erick Otieno is a human rights activist, trainer and a mentor. He is the Executive Director of Advocates for Social Change Kenya (ADSOCK) and also sits in the UN Women Reference Group for East and Southern Africa Region on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Gender Development from the University of Nairobi. Over the last 18 years, he has been engaged in promotion of egalitarian, non-abusive models of masculinities and cultivating a new consciousness with an aim of improving the lives of women, men, and children, community empowerment activities, awareness raising, lobbying and advocacy on human rights issues in Kenya and beyond. He has been engaged in a series of conceptual analysis including developing and applying analyses of masculinities and power relations.
