Bio

Rohini Ram Mohan is a Senior Specialist, Gender Research with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), based in New Delhi, India. Mohan has extensive experience in research for development, mainstreaming gender and social inclusion in rural development and infrastructure programs. At IRRI, she has played a key role in research on gender dynamics in seed systems and rice breeding and has contributed to research focused on women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship in Myanmar and India. She has co-led development of a conceptual framework on gender and male outmigration in South Asia and assessing the impacts of migration on household decision-making dynamics. Mohan supports the CGIAR GENDER Platform’s Evidence Module in synthesizing evidence on gender in agriculture under various themes of importance to CGIAR. She is interested in emerging areas of research, including gendered time-use and labor, coping mechanisms to climate shocks, and building women’s capacity on climate-smart technologies. Mohan has an MPhil and MA in Sociology and completed her Bachelor’s in Journalism from Delhi University.
