Co-Creation with FarMoRe: Collaborative training for agroecological transition
Abstract
The “Co-Creation with FarMoRe: Collaborative Training for Agroecological Transition” curriculum is designed to empower rice farmers, agricultural field agents, and cooperatives in Vietnam’s Mekong River Delta by integrating agroecological practices with innovative digital tools. As part of the EU-IFAD funded Agroecological TRANSITIONS for Building Resilient and Inclusive Agricultural and Food Systems (TRANSITIONS) program, this curriculum supports the development of inclusive, sustainable agricultural systems that increase resilience to climate change while enhancing food security and farmer livelihoods.
The training focuses on the use of the Farm activity Monitoring and Reporting (FarMoRe) application to co-create sustainable rice farming practices in line with Vietnam's national agriculture development strategies and agroecological technical guidelines. Participants will gain digital literacy skills and learn how to use FarMoRe to monitor and improve farming activities, align practices to the "One Must Do, Five Reductions" (1M5R) package, track greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and foster collaboration and co-creation among farmers, field agents, and agricultural management officers.
By enhancing co-creation and knowledge sharing, the curriculum helps build a foundation for scaling agroecological transitions, improving resource efficiency, and driving innovation within Vietnam's rice sector. Through collective learning and digital integration, the curriculum aims to ensure the successful adoption of sustainable farming practices, contributing to Vietnam’s ambitious “Sustainable development of one million ha of high-quality and low-carbon rice together with green growth in Mekong River Delta up to 2030” Program.
