Dataset for the Fishers Survey: Support to the Value Chain Analysis and Action Plan Development for the Lake Tanganyika sprat and sardine (kapenta) Value Chain in Zambia
Abstract
The study collected quantitative and qualitative data to support the value chain analysis and action plan development for the L. Tanganyika kapenta value chain in Zambia. Data was collected by WorldFish on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The methodology was adapted from the fisheries and aquaculture in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (Fish4ACP) methodology developed by FAO. The quantitative data collected comprises 400 surveys consisting of kapenta fishers, processors, workers, and consumers. Of these, 100 were kapenta fishers. This dataset only includes 100 respondents who were identified as kapenta fishers in the fishing villages around Lake Tanganyika. Data was collected for the period between August and October 2022.
