Fungicide timing affects control of chickpea Ascochyta blight (Ascochyta rabiei) in Syria

Abstract

INTRODUCTION
Ascochyta blight, caused by Ascochyla rabiei (Pass.) Lahr. is a destructive disease affecting chickpea worldwide (1)
Breeding chickpea for resistance to Ascochyta blight identified several linesfeultivars with tolerance to the disease, some of which have already been released in the region and beyond (2).
To achieve the best performance of the new tolerant lines, fungicides should be used with timely applications (3).
This study determined: i) the efficacy of new fungicides compared to those traditionally used, ii) the best timing for foliar sprays, and iii) the reaction of newly released chickpea cultivars in Syria
