Gender and school achievement in the Caribbean
Abstract
This research project addressed the problem of gender-differentiated achievement and staying-on, but approached it from a distinct angle: exploring why females have stayed on in schools and achieved comparatively better educational achievement scores in the Caribbean countries of Trinidad, Barbados and St Vincent. These results are consistent throughout the educational system of these countries: in primary and secondary schools, across social classes, in most curriculum subjects and across various types of stratified secondary schools
