Hermetic Super bags for safe storage of rice grains and seeds commercialized

Abstract

The IRRI Super Bag makes the principle of hermetic storage available to farmers and processors storing cereal grains and other crops (e.g., maize or coffee). The Super bag was already proven its benefits such as extend the germination life of seed 6-12 months, control insect grain pests (without using chemicals); and improve the head rice recovery of stored grain typically by 10%. The Super bag with 50 kg capacity is commercialised globally. Intended users are farmers and seed producers.
