Human impacts on tropical forest biodiversity and genetic resources

Abstract

The conservation of biodiversity and genetic resources has been a high priority under the Convention on Biological Diversity for more than a decade. Many studies have been conducted on this subject in tropical forests. The aim of this book is to bring together many of these studies in order to evaluate current knowledge of the impact of disturbance and fragmentation on tropical forest biodiversity and genetic resources. Themes covered include biodiversity and ecological processes, genetic diversity, local people's livelihoods, case studies from Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin and South-America.
