Land Access and territorial development in Medio São Francisco, Bahia
Abstract
This study is part of a larger research project, “Land access and territorial development in the semi-dry area of the North-East” involving, besides Bahia, the states of Ceará and Pernambuco. This publication presents the main results obtained for the semi-arid region of Bahia, specifically the Medio São Francisco. This allowed the reading and the mapping of the different forms of land access, which made it possible to identify and understand the continued presence of traditional communities and that of those established by state intervention resulting from resistance and struggles for land, and how these actors are linked with the public policy. It focuses especially on those policies related to the territorial development led by the Secretary of Territorial Development (SDT), Minister of Agrarian Development, (MDA)
