Nuevo método para obtener alta infección de Pyricularia oryza en áreas de baja humedad relativa

Abstract

Sixty rice cultivars were planted in 20 m long plant beds 1.20 m wide at two locations: Meta Department where good temperature and humidity conditions exist for blast (Pyricularia oryzae) development, and Cauca Valley where temperature is near optimum but humidity is low. At the Cauca location the plant bed was sprinkler irrigated each evening and then a plastic sheet slightly wider than the plant bed was draped over a central rope support where it remained during the night. Similar disease incidence occurred at both locations, although some cultivars behaved differently, probably because of the presence of different races of the pathogen
