The security arena in south Sudan: a political marketplace study
Abstract
This paper provides a succinct analysis of South Sudan as a political marketplace, focusing on the last 15 years, from the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in January 2005 up until late 2019. The paper seeks to provide a framework that allows South Sudanese actors—especially those concerned with promoting peace, democracy and justice—to analyze their country’s predicament so as to understand the implications of different courses of action, or the likely outcome of allowing events to run their course This work is part of the Conflict Research Programme managed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and funded by the UK Department for International Development
