Shock-Responsive Social Protection Systems Research Case study: Lesotho

Abstract

This case study report for Lesotho analyses the extent to which social protection interventions and systems formed part of the response by the Government of Lesotho and its development partners to the El-Niño-induced drought and food insecurity of 2015–16. It also explores the potential for using these programmes and systems to address future shocks. This is a briefing summarising the case study for Lesotho. These are outputs from the Shock Responsive Social Protection Systems Research There are other case studies covering Pakistan, Philippines Mozambique, Sahel and Mali
