Strengthening Resilience of Smallholder Farmers in the Philippines: Participatory Climate Risk Mapping and Adaptation Planning
Abstract
The Climate-Smart Mapping and Adaptation Planning (CS-MAP) has been implemented across selected sites in the Philippines to address climate risks in rice-based agricultural systems. CS-MAP, an activity of CGIAR’s Research Initiative on Climate Resilience (ClimBeR) under the de-risk work package, focuses on the identification of climate related risks and integration of climate-smart practices into local agricultural planning and decision-making. Using a participatory and scientific approaches, CS-MAP aims to equip and help smallholder farmers with actionable adaptation plans and strategies to improve resilience to climate change.
This poster presentation, showcased during the "Anticipatory Climate Change Adaptation: ClimBeR Learning Exchange" organized by the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) on October 28, 2024, highlights the mapping and planning outcomes, as well as key climate adaptation strategies identified for each site.
