Theoretically grounded tool for understanding empowerment and nutritional outcomes.
Agriculture-nutrition pathways are complex. WEN Grid is a theoretically grounded tool for understanding empowerment and nutritional outcomes, combining Kabeer's empowerment framework and the UNICEF conceptual framework for causes of malnutrition.
WEN Grid is a quantitative diagnostic tool designed for researchers.
Country of focus: Niger, India.
The slides linked below explain how the grid was developed and how the diagnostic was carried out.
The WEN framework was developed and validated in India by Erin Lentz (UT Austin) and Sudha Narayanan (IGIDR, New Delhi) and funded by IMMANA 2. The framework and grid were further applied to Niger using DHS data in 2018-19.
